The 5th Grade Science Fair

Once again Adia has surprised us. For the last several months she has been working on her science fair project and report. She kind of got off to a rough start and got a little behind. Once we (her parents) discovered the problem, we were able to help Adia see where she went wrong. She was under a lot of stress, but owned all of it and got to work fixing the problem. Her teacher, Mrs. Corbin, even complimented her about being responsible.

Adia titled her project "Spaterade". She took three houseplants (Golden Pothos) and watered each one with a different liquid. She used water, Gatorade, and Sprite. Adia went through her project step by step documenting, taking notes, and taking pictures. She was diligent about watering her plants and though her hypothesis may have been wrong, she got great results. She worked hard on her report and her project display board. And she got it all done and turned in on time. And we can honestly say, that Adia did it all by herself. The only thing I did to contribute was purchase her plants and get her pictures developed.

On Thursday, March 5th, the school held the science fair awards night, and Adia, to all of our surprise, won 2nd place. When Adia heard her name called she started crying. She was tickled pink with herself. The boys were also super excited for Adia. They cheered and clapped while she was up in front of everyone. Now she gets to go on to the Northern Nevada Division.

Good work Adia!! Your hard work paid off!!
