The NO HILL 100

In Fallon, every year on the first weekend of October, there is a bike race/event called THE NO HILL 100. Jacob and I decided a year ago that we wanted to participate it the 2009 event. It took us a long time to finally get bikes but once we did we have loved every minute we've spent on them! Since it was our first time doing any kind of race-a-ma-jig we thought we would take it easy and do the shortest route. We signed up for a bike ride of 34.2 miles. We got up early, put on our gear, pumped up our tires and we were off. The weather turned out beautiful (at least while we were riding). Some of Jake's family came from Utah to join us. (They've done this sort of thing before.) We were glad they came. It took us about 2.5 hours to make it to the finish line and that included a pit stop. We were pretty proud of ourselves. We can't wait to do it again next year but I think we will try to do the whole 100 miles. We will have to really practice and get used to sitting on our seats for longer periods of time but I really think we can do it.

That takes determination to go that far. Don't know how you will be able to walk after that long of a ride. Very impressed

Way to go! It's fun to try new things out. You don't know what you've missed until you do it.

Wow! I'm proud of you! How did your butt feel after being on a tiny seat for 2 1/2 hours? Ouch!

I love it! Some day I think you, Jake, Rick and I should all do a race. Wouldn't that be fun?
