A Testimony

As I have prepared for a lesson that I am teaching today in Young Womens, I have been praying and studying about the covenants that I have made. I came across an incredible quote that really struck my heart.

"When we went forth into the waters of baptism and covenanted with our Father in Heaven to serve Him and keep His commandments, He bound Himself also by covenant to us that He would never desert us, never leave us to ourselves, never forget us, that in the midst of trials and hardships, when everything was arrayed against us, He would be near unto us and would sustain us. That was His covenant, and...we can tie to the promises that He has made." -George Q. Cannon

In light of the struggles that my parents and others have gone through over the years it is a comfort to know that He will never leave us to be on our own. He will be there to help and sustain. Though it is difficult to understand, what we are asked to go through is tailored to us specifically to help us progress the most. All we have to do is have faith. It is hard and often tests us to our limits, but we know that the Lord is bound when we do what he has asked of us. Through my own experiences I have come to know that this is true. At the darkest, hardest, and most challenging times in my life He has been there and carried me and my family. We will be blessed and can receive all that Heavenly Father has for us. And, there is no greater reward than eternal life with our Father in Heaven.

I am grateful for the lives that my parents have led. I am grateful that they have taught me and helped direct my life. They have inspired me over and over to do what is right. Through their testimonies I have built my own. I am just like Nephi; having been born of goodly parents....

Kara, you are really very, very special. You have no idea what this means to me. Thank you so much for helping to keep me afloat in some of my hardest moments. My family is what got me through before, and it's my family who will get me through all this again. Love you.

Connor was just baptized yesterday and I was so grateful that he was able to make a covenant that would bind him to his Heavenly Father. We are so lucky to have these promises!

Thanks for the uplifting words of encouragement. I really needed to hear that also. Things have been so crazy with everything going on and Steve just got called to be elder's quorum president. It's always a good reminder that we are not alone, if we are willing to put forth our efforts.

It is always nice to know that our Father is out there watching over us. It really does feel nice to know that we are watched over.

I second the comment (well, all of it, but specifically this one) about our Father being there and helping us and our trials being tailored to us. Having just finished a couple I'd have to very much agree. Just have to trust and have faith and hope. He'll watch over us and make it well in the end.

I just taught that same lesson a couple weeks ago and tried hard to hit that quote home to the girls. It struck me the same way! How blessed we are to have those promises in our lives and know that Heavenly Father will keep his side if we keep ours!

Just remember that we aren't given trials that we can't handle. He is always there to help you.
